One Piece
This year the group did a dance skit to One Piece. Different from last year, this one was more like a proper dance number with really shiney outfits, like certain anime themed music and dance shows. It was fun.
Oh, and we won Best of Show! Woohoo!

Bleach
My original plan was for the soul slayer to be unwrapped but I really liked the way it looked wrapped, plus it meant less issues with con-ops. So I decided to keep it this way. The sword is made from a solid piece of poplar and is painted two toned silver. I made the kimono and my girlfriend made the hakama. As for the wig... it... um... turned out to be a bit brighter and redder than I was expecting. I am looking for a replacement.

Naruto
Keeping with the bad Naruto cosplay theme I decided to do another ghetto cosplay. Well, crossplay in this case. Sakura has such an easy to recognize outfit that I figured it would be easy to do a quick, and bad, version of it. Now, don't get me wrong, I really enjoy Naruto, it is a great show. There are just sooo many cosplayers for it already.

Naruto
Don't have a good picture of the character to put here yet. This costume can be put into either the ghetto cosplay section or the legit section with the character being a failed replication of Naruto from early in the series. Either way, it was done to look bad.
Features to point out include the feather boa, the miscolored oranges (yes, that was on purpose) the forehead protector made of tinfoil with the Konoha leaf drawn badly with a Sharpie and the paper towel used as the bandage wrap on my right leg (which in this picture had come loose and fallen).

Magic Knight Rayearth
My pride and joy. The armor for this costume if made out of fiberglass with a nice gel coat specially sanded to give it a magical mirror-esque finish. All in all this costume took about seven months of weekends, and frequent weeknights, to finish. You can read details on the construction process here.

G Gundam
For Fanime 2004 my group did a dance spoof of G Gundam. We won Second Place for our presentation which included dances to such songs as "I'm Too Sexy", "Staying Alive" and "Safety Dance." The Gundams are all made from carboard and I am aprticularly pleased with the Windmill Gundam that I made. Yes, the vanes do rotate.
Oh and there are few better ways to get over stage fright than to go onstage in a skintight bodysuit and dance in front of a thousand people.
All the Gundams are being piloted by women.

Saiyuki
Following in the footsteps of my ghetto Gannon mentioned below I decided to make a ghetto Snazo from Saiyuki partly for fun and partly to tease a friend who is a big fan of the character and has done an exceptionally good Sanzo cosplay. Special features of this costume include the arm bands made out of electrical tape and the kimono around my waist made by wrapping some cheap muslin. My group did a skit based on the Pretty Pretty Princess game at Recca Con 2004. We won for "Best Use of Jewlery."

Ugh! Such a badly styled wig. I totally did not plan ahead when it came to the wig and I have death touch when it comes to styling, or even handling, my own wigs.

Final Fantasy Some-Number-or-Other
(Oops... my armour is falling off a bit in this picture. This was a last minute half day costume. We won for most Humorous at Fanime 2003 (and best technical too) with our "I can change" skit. See pic below of us being amazed that we won, twice.)

Furuba (Fruits Basket)
I did this costume cause it is a comfy one to spend all day in, and I wanted to try out the hair style... which I quite like. And the duster is really cool too... such a great character.

Legend of Zelda
This costume is the epitome of last minute uber-ghetto-ness. Done at the last minute as a total spoof... I just tried to get the basic colors down... like the greenish skin and orangish hair and brownish clothes. In some pictures he does have a cape too. Even at this high quality people were able to recognize who I was and I even got "I heart Ganon" catcalls from the audience. The group won for construction... although I was technically a prop, I really think it was my costume that helped cinche their win :P
